Love lentils!! And we prepare them the same way, some variations, maybe, but the same. Well, we do use "chorizo" and "costilla adobada" (Sorry, don't know if there is any translation for that! 😅
My mother-in-law used to cook vegetarian lentils and used to name this plate "lentejas viudas", that is, "widowed lentils" because there was no meat there! 😃
It’s cool that you prepare them the same way! I guess it’s a fairly common way of preparing them in Spain. We sometimes add chorizo, too! I don’t think there’s a great translation for “costilla adobada”. I think the closest would be “pork ribs marinated in adobo,” but it doesn’t have the same ring to it 😆
Ohhh now that you mention it, I think I have heard of “lentejas viudas” but I didn’t know exactly what they were! A new vocab word for me 🎉
Thanks so much for commenting, Ángeles! I love getting your perspective of someone who lives in (and is from) another part of Spain!
You have made the lentils while here! You put ribs which were leftover from where we had went out to eat. It was very good and we both enjoyed it! I really thought they were just beans! Like pinto Lima etc. but they are very good! So are Lima beans and polish Kabasa! Powers boil your beans then cook in water and 1/2 stick of butter and cook until done. Then slice up the kabasa and cook a little longer and serve with homemade rolls! This was about the only thing I could taste!
That’s right, we made it the last time we were in! I would probably like lima beans and kielbasa a lot more now--I remember picking out all the sausage to eat and leaving the beans when I was little 😂
I know you did that! I never could understand why you wouldn’t eat the Lima beans but you eat the kielbasa that was cooked in the beans. But I let you do how you wanted to 🥰
Love Lentils and lentil soup! My mom used to make green lentil soup🤩 and I also love red lentil soup!
Same here--I don’t think I’ve met a lentil soup I didn’t like 😆
Oh, oh!! green and red lentils?? Interesting!!

Thank you for sharing! My husband has been trying to get me into lentil dishes, so we'll have to give this recipe a try! :)
There are really so many good lentils dishes; they’re so versatile! If you make the recipe you’ll have to let me know how it turns out!
